Happy New Year

Happy New Year Everyone. We hope everyone had a great holiday season. We’re busy hauling boats to Toronto for the Boat Show which runs January 14-22. We hope to see everyone there! We will have two of our own booths this year with Grady-White and Key West showcasing boats from 15-25 feet. We’ll also have sales representatives in Yamaha, Rossiter and Honda.

Pointe au Baril is now a winter wonderland; ice and snow seem to be here to stay which is always a nice change.

Some Ice in the Station

We have some ice in the station this morning. Our construction team broke through on their way out to work this morning but this could be it for them as we’re expecting cold temperatures and close to a foot of snow by Friday afternoon with snow squalls slated to blow through over the next 24 to 48 hours. It is always sad to see the boating season end but winter is always a nice change after a cold, wet fall.

Check back often for more photos and details.

Cheers.

Winter is around the Corner

Our friendly weather guru and customer Scott has told us that winter weather is to hit the week of November 28th. We look back on Summer 2011 fondly as we look ahead to what they’re calling to be a snowy winter. Winter in Pointe au Baril is gorgeous. Should you ever decide to want to see the beauty and tranquility of a PaB winter please let us know; we’d be happy to send you some photos or even show you in person.
Cheers.

Ice on the Bay

It was a frosty night in Pointe au Baril last night. The mercury dipped to around -9 degrees. We got to work this morning to a skim of ice around the docks and a smattering of ice floating down the channel. It is supposed to be a nice week with the sun shining for the most part but cool temperatures starting to be the norm. Here is a photo of the sunrise taken this morning.

Snow, wind and cold!

Make no mistake folks – it is cold up here! We were out and about on the Bay today and it was down right nasty. Snow, wind, cold and generally just unforgiving but it is still Pointe au Baril and it is still gorgeous. We have all but a handful of boats pulled now aside from our construction and marina boats.

Here is to a great weekend. Enjoy all!

Certainly Fall

As I sit here typing this and look out the window, I see streams of rain water falling off the roof, 8 degrees on my outdoor thermometer and a outdoor light level that has cars turning on their auto headlights – yup, it is fall! If there was any doubt about that fact, take a look at most trees now missing all their colourfull leaves and listen to the gun shots of hunters in the distance taking aim on that moose, deer or duck. Fall is inevitable but we still don’t like to see it come. What fall means is boat season in coming to an end and we miss seeing cars arriving in tens every Friday afternoon.
At this junction we look back on what was an amazing weather season that was one for the ages. We wanted to say a big thank you to all of you for making this such a great summer around the marina and on the Bay. We hope everyone has a great fall and winter and we look forward to welcoming you all back in the spring. Come see us at the Toronto International Boat show in January where Desmasdons will have 2 of our own booths – one for Grady-White and another with Key West. We’ll also have staff in the Rossiter booth, the Yamaha booth as well as the Honda booth.

Cheers.

As turkey day becomes closer and closer we look forward to welcome all our friends and customers back up to Pointe au Baril for many people’s last visit. It looks like it is supposed to be a gorgeous weekend with temperatures in the twenties. The sunsets have been gorgeous and the bugs have all but gone away. We’re open Friday from 8-7pm, Saturday from 8-5, Sunday from 9-5 and Monday from 8-5. Have a great weekend if we don’t see you and enjoy family time in Pointe au Baril.

Cheers.
